Build Readiness Scorecard
Seven questions that show whether a software or AI project is ready to scope: how defined it is, what it has to touch, where approval stands and who will own it. Your answers place the project in one of three bands, each with a next step. The scorecard does not produce a price.
One question per screen, and you can go back. We ask for your name and work email before showing the result.
What it scores
- Scope
- How much of what you want built is defined, from a written spec to an open question.
- Systems and data
- Whether the systems the build must touch are known and reachable, including spreadsheets and inboxes.
- Approval
- Where approval to spend stands. It asks for status only.
- Timing
- How urgent the work is, in relative terms.
- Decision
- Who decides, and how close you are to them.
- Ownership
- Who handles the technical side today, which shapes how we'd work and who runs the system after launch.
- Success metric
- Whether the number the build should move is defined and measured.
How the score works
Each answer carries a weight. The total, plus two checks on approval and on access to whoever decides, places the project in one of three bands. You see the band and what to do next, not a number.
- Ready to scope
- Most answers are settled, spending is approved or in approval, and the person deciding is involved. Next step: a 30-minute intro call to set up a Blueprint.
- Partly ready
- Some of what a Blueprint locks is settled and some is still open. Next step: a call to work through the open points, or a written message if you prefer.
- Not ready to scope yet
- Most answers are still open, which is where a Blueprint starts. Next step: a short written message about the problem, or a call if you'd rather talk.
Most questions cover something the Blueprint, the first phase of the Forge Method, has to lock. See what a Blueprint locks before you book.
What it is not
The scorecard does not produce a price or an estimate. Price is fixed at the end of the Blueprint, against a locked scope.
